Created for a democratic music label.
Anonymuze was developed for Odradek Records, a classical music record label that is run democratically by its roster members. New artists proposals are signed only after being accepted on the basis of a demo recording which is evaluated anonymously by the other members of the roster. The goal is to create a system of meritocratic evaluation analogous to the scientific peer review process, releasing artistically strong albums with real cultural relevance. The result is an eclectic group of artists, united by excellent musicianship and an adventurous approach to repertoire, producing award winning and critically acclaimed albums.
Odradek Records needed a more streamlined process for handling incoming demos, and so created Anonymuze. We think it could be a useful tool for many organizations, so we are making it free to the public.
In addition to being fair, and making every artist who we sign an active stakeholder in the overall success of the label, it is proving to be a very reliable guarantee of quality. It's a model we would like to see other businesses, labels, and arts organizations adopt, and we think that it has the potential to change the arts world similar to how the peer review method changed the field of science.
